 Caprese Salad

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe tomatoes (sliced)
  • 1 pound fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • 2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 tablespoons balsamic glaze (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into even, round pieces, about ¼-inch thick.
    • Wash and pat dry the fresh basil leaves.
  2. Assemble the Salad:

    • On a large serving plate, alternate slices of tomato and mozzarella in a row or circular pattern.
    • Tuck whole basil leaves between the layers of tomato and mozzarella.
  3. Drizzle with Olive Oil:

    • Generously drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the salad.
  4. Season:

    • Sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  5. Optional Balsamic Glaze:

    • If you like a slightly sweet and tangy flavor, drizzle balsamic glaze over the salad as well.
  6. Serve:

    • Serve the Caprese Salad immediately, either as a starter, side dish, or light meal.
